OpenScholar Upgrade FAQs

The following FAQs pertain to websites in the OpenScholar (Drupal 7) platform. The OpenScholar platform will be discontinued and all websites will upgrade to the Princeton Site Builder.

During the Upgrade

What do I need to do for launch?
Nothing. A launch date will be scheduled for you. Refer to the Upgrade Phases.

What if I need to make an urgent update during a content freeze?
Please email [email protected] to notify the upgrade team. Make a note for yourself so you remember to redo the update on your newly upgraded website.

When will I be able to update my new site?
You will receive an email notifying you that your upgrade is complete and that you may resume editing. The email will include the new link to login as well as links to documentation and training.

Where will I be able to access my old site?
Instructions will be provided in the email confirmation of your upgrade. You will temporarily be able to access the old website and then it will be deleted. Afterward, check the Internet Archive for a snapshot of the public content.

URLs

Why has my URL changed?
The new platform does not allow websites to be nested in a subdirectory under a third-level domain name (using a name after the “/”). The platform requires all websites to have their own domain name, therefore the name that came after the “/” was moved ahead of the “scholar” name.

  • Old: scholar.princeton.edu/yourname
  • New: yourname.scholar.princeton.edu

Logging in

How do I login?
Add /cas to log in to the new website. This will prompt you to use the University’s Central Authentication System (cas). Ex. yourname.scholar.princeton.edu/cas
